Introduction |
The Electric Circus (t-e-c) is a dissociative system of about a dozen alters. Things are in flux right now more than they have been in a couple of decades, so we’re not sure of the exact number. You can collectively refer to us as t-e-c (tech) or as the t-e-c-ies (techies). Yes, we’re big nerds, and there is room for a joke about t-e-c support somewhere in here.
We were diagnosed with DDNOS (now known as OSDD) in 1994 during a two week psychiatric hospitalization. We were then referred to a specialist who updated that diagnosis to full MPD/DID after more testing and interviews. (1994 is when Multiple Personality Disorder officially became Dissociative Identity Disorder. We were actually diagnosed with both because of the timing.)
We were 19.
In our early 20s, we were on Social Security Disability and pretty messed up. We started to get our lives together in our mid 20’s and began a successful 25+ year technical career that has seen us work for some of the biggest tech companies out there. We’re a very covert system, and don’t tell employers that they’re getting a whole crew for the price of one engineer. 😉
We’ve been in and out of therapy for over 30 years. We do not seek to merge into one personality. If that happens one day, great, but we’re fine with functional multiplicity.
In addition to the DID bus, we also ride the LGBT train and are physically disabled. Life isn’t easy, but it beats the alternative.
It can take us from minutes to months to respond to messages, but we do try. Feel free to contact us in any language – we have a good translation app. You’ll probably get a reply from either Saoirse, Janet or Sharon as we use the site the most, but you never know.
If you have a message for a particular alter, feel free to say so, but realize that may greatly delay the response. While we can occasionally trigger each other out, it’s not something we enjoy or usually attempt. You’ll need to wait for your desired t-e-c-ie to come out and play on their own. 😉
