I have been living with DID since I was a teenager to my knowledge. After years of therapy, hospital stays, and diagnoses as a young adult, I landed a therapist who recognized it and officially diagnosed me.

I am 30 years old, engaged to my partner of 5 years, and have 4 alters currently. One of my alters is selectively mute, one is a child, one is a protector, and I consider my fourth as the original host has disappeared and not resurfaced in over 6 years.

I love reading and music, and am absolutely terrible at being a sociable friend. I have moments of extrovertedness then moments of introvertedness. I can’t stand small talk but will be hard pressed to stop talking if someone starts an intense, deep, intellectual conversation.
