Kia ora, hi my name is Te-Rangi and I’m from NZ and USA. I am part Māori as well as Caucasian, and I only realized that I had multiple alters in my 40s. I had been diagnosed when I was 23 with Dissociative Disorder, but we thought at the time that we didn’t have DID. How wrong I was! None of my alters ever fronted until I had an energy drink and my blood sugars tanked catastrophically. Then Ares took over. That was a real shock to me and very scary because I was still aware of what was happening but she took control of everything, and I couldn’t control it. I was about 40 at the time. I also have ADHD and depression yay, so needless to say life gets fun! But I am in the process of learning to know my alters as their own selves and to love them and ask them for help when I need it, so I don’t switch very often unless I am super stressed or triggered. Might also explain why I’m bi as well as I have a male alter who is in love with someone else even though we are happily married to my husband Colin. Anyway, hope you all have a great day!
