If you feel comfortable, you can share any experiences or opinions on Abilify. I’m curious to see how it’s worked for others and I’ll be sharing my experience too once I can formulate my thoughts.

We take 7 mg (a 5mg & a 2mg) a day. It’s definitely “activating”, which honestly I need as I get pretty depressed. 10 mg was too much, though, and made some of us “activated” to the point of not being able to sit or lay down for longer than a few minutes. Of course, we’re on quite a cocktail of psychiatric drugs, so there are interactions between them that other people may not see.

Overall, as the atypical anti-psychotics go, Abilify is probably my favorite, as it has the least side effects for us of any we’ve tried. (And we’ve tried most of ’em.)

Honestly, Abilify is one of our lesser-liked antipsychotics. We got prescribed 5mg (along with another med) and it has made us extremely anxious when we take it, especially continuously. Because while it helps our depression, it seems to amplify any energetic/intense/activating feelings for us. Which for us, includes anxiety and trauma responses. It especially doesn’t agree with me, Alien, because I’m amped up at almost all times already (usually in a good way) and it pushes it all up to the extremes (like panic attacks or feeling so restless that I have to pace for hours). We actually need to tell our psychiatrist that it’s not working for us. We also get nauseous when taking it, but we suspect that’s the other med.

At 10mg I totally had the pacing thing!! Sounds like you need a lower dose, if you stay on it at all. Good luck!

My experiences with Aripiprazole/Abilify have been good so far, as they create a greater sense of stability intrapsychically. I take 7.5mg of it, and it helps with the psychotic symptoms that the majority of us experience from time to time. It also balances well with my other medications.
