So we’ve been wait8ng for VR since the 80s and finality got it back when the vive first came out.

Its definitely been a positive experience for us, even though we have to take nausea meds to play.

VRchat especially had been great since you can be anthing there.

They just recently updated to use the hand tracking of the quest(1,2,and pro) and that’s been amazing.

Just the other day one of our little ones came out in the middle of playing and didn’t realize it wasn’t the real world. Our partner was with us to keep her safe and distracted her by doing silly things.

I think she would have gotten she was in a game of it wasn’t for the fact of the hand tracking.

She kept signing(asl, shes nverbal) to our partner that she couldn’t feel, but she seemed happy and amused by it.

I dunno I just thought it was cute and an interesting experience to share.

Anyone else had and good VR experiences?

Our eyes are kind of wonky and have a real hard time with VR goggles. We get double vision, headaches, and nausea when trying VR. 🙁 I’m waiting for a holodeck.

      aww :c

we struggle with vision and nausea too, but it doesn’t sound as intense as what you’ve got going on.

hope we get good ar or holodecks sooner rather than later :p its realy nice, especially for dealing with body disphoria/dismorphia on a micro level

Beat Saber has been awesome for us. Early on after diagnosis, we had an unexpectedly awesome kind of hangout together there. I got to become more aware of the others and got to know some things about them while dancing to the music. When I brought it up to the therapist later, she said the alternating left and right movements of the sabers may have something to do with it being so therapeutic.

But only when it’s set for easy, no fail, with no bombs, for us at least 😅

oooh that’s awesome! Beat saber is one of the only times our ‘physical protector’ comes out for fun and not necessity.

We really want to try VR at some point but we can’t afford it at the moment. None of us identify with the body at all, only 2 of us identify with the body’s gender (we’re afab), only 1 one of us sometimes identifies with the body’s age (he’s an age-slider), and nearly half of us are non-human alters. So we’re really excited by the idea of being able to make our own VR avatars that look like us!

I’m not sure how well it will go when we do try coz we get a lot of migraines and have nausea issues too, we also get a lot of tics and muscle spasms so I don’t know how that would affect things like hand and body tracking, but we still want to try if we ever have the means to.

your situation sounds very similar to ours.

our partner started making avatars for us recently.

says it was worth the struggle after seeing calli’s reaction to seeing something closer to them in the mirror.

if you do get the chance to play i heavily recomend taking nausea meds and eating something light to help them stick before going in, and limit your play time. get it as soon as you feel nauseous, you can always get back in again later

I’m so glad to hear that Calli had a good reaction from the VR avatars, that’s so nice or your partner to help make them for you all! I imagine it must be a really time-consuming process!

Thanks for the advice, we’ll definitely bear that in mind if we ever get a chance to play 🙂

it can be, but we’re using some cheats. vroid studio helps make anime style models. they arnt perfect by any means, but they do have a big impact. (the me they made looks so damn young lol but it’s still a pretty profound experience)
