Zoom Hangouts?
I do have a paid Zoom account, so we could get together and hangout some time. I think its too close to the holidays to try anything this month, but how would a Sunday in January work? Probably the 8th or 22nd? Who would be interested? What time zone are y’all in? What kind of activities would you be interested in? Just getting together and talking? Playing games? Watching me stare blankly at the screen?

It can be set up pretty easily, actually. The only hard part is going to be coming up with a time that works for most people. I’m thinking maybe 4 p.m. Pacific Time on a Sunday? I’ll create a private group for Zoom Hangouts, and post an invite in there – that way google can’t see the invite details. We could potentially do this Sunday if people wanted to get to know each other. Otherwise we’d be looking at the 22nd of January, most likely, due to holidays and other commitments we have.

I don’t use zoom often but what about a dissociative cafe discord?

I’m debating making a discord server. Right now the kind of unofficial cafe discord is braiDID’s discord for their patreon members. But, I realize not everyone wants to or can afford to become patreons of braiDID. As one of the themes of the cafe is keeping things free, I will probably spin a discord server up at some point. I’m concerned that I won’t have the time to moderate it, though. I’d like to get to know people better, so I can identify some folks that might make good discord community leaders. So, to answer your question, yes, at some point, just not quite yet.
I’m also playing with a new way to add chat to the cafe website, kind of like facebook messenger, in that it would allow instant messages to groups as well as individuals. Coming soon, perhaps.

i would definitely support a discord! I’m not quite in a position to support braidid’s patreon yet but I’m down with whatever happens 🙂

For system members who arent good with time zones here is a US and UK time zones:
UK Timezone: 12 am – 1 am
EST: 7:00 – 8:00 pm
MST: 6:00 – 7:00 pm
CST: 5:00 – 6:00 pm
PST: Listed
Alaskan Time: 3:00 – 4:00 pm
Hawaiian Time: 2:00 – 3:00 pm

I don’t think we’d feel brave enough to come to the first one, but we might try and come to a zoom hangout in the future if we’re allowed to not show our face? It’d be nice to try and talk to people in real-time, we don’t get to do that often.

You don’t need to have your video on. If you want to join and just listen, that’s OK too. We’d love to have you at the first one, but understand if you can’t make it. I’m still really nervous about it myself, I’m hoping they get easier.

I’m glad to hear we wouldn’t need to have video turned on and that we could just listen if we wanted. We’ve never used zoom before so I don’t think we’d be able to figure it out and psyche ourselves up for it in time but we’ll see. If we can’t make it to the first one we could definitely try for the next one!

The plan is to do them once a month, so there will be others if you can’t make this one.
