• Zyprexa is freaking evil.

We react badly to most anti-psychotics; the exception was Zyprexa, which seemed to actually help.

Let me tell you the dark side. Zyprexa can also depress your central nervous system. In our case, it caused respiratory depression. We already had trouble breathing, so we thought it was just our other issues. Having been off Zyprexa for several months now, I can say it definitely made a difference to our breathing. We’ve gone from having to use supplemental oxygen almost every day to needing it a few times a month. It’s a stark contrast.

Zyprexa was also the hardest medication to get off of that we’ve ever encountered. It took us over a year to totally come off of it. The withdrawals were that bad. Nausea, headaches, digestive issues, trouble sleeping, etc. We had been on 20 mg for years. We had to step down between 5 and 2.5 mg at a time, just so the withdrawals were somewhat manageable.

Then there is the little gem that we gained 200 pounds on Zyprexa. We were always hungry and never felt full. For years.

Did it help us psychologically? Probably. Did it absolutely fuck us over physically? Yes. Do we recommend it? Maybe for the short term, but definitely not for long-term use.

Have you been on Zyprexa? What was your experience?
