What is Emotional Abuse?

Emotional abuse is a pattern of behavior that aims to control, manipulate, or harm another person emotionally. It can occur in various relationships and involves actions undermining an individual’s self-worth, confidence, or emotional well-being.

Different types of emotional abuse include:

Verbal Abuse: Using words to degrade, belittle, or criticize the victim.

Humiliation: Actions intended to embarrass or shame the person.

Isolation: Restricting social interactions, cutting off support networks, or controlling the victim’s access to others.

Gaslighting: Manipulating someone into doubting their own perceptions, memories, or sanity.

Intimidation: Creating fear through threats, gestures, or aggressive behavior.

Neglect: Ignoring emotional needs, withholding affection, or failing to provide support.
