Three Weeks Since The Cafe Doors Opened.

Blogs may include sensitive or triggering content. Reader discretion is advised.

I said the cafe was ready for use three weeks ago, and we cautiously opened the doors. There have been some speed bumps since then, but I’m amazed at all the folks who joined. For the first month, I figured having ten members would be a mark of success. We have over seventy.

Now I’m going to take the next step and say that it’s time to fully open the cafe, with the understanding we’re still working on the wiki and knowledge base. If you want to spread the word on any groups you are on, feel free. If you tattoo it on your forehead, I’ll even put your picture on the front page. 😉

Fun facts:

  • The cafe has been run out of Seattle, the Netherlands, and Oregon during the last three weeks, as I moved it around for cost and performance reasons. However, it’s staying in Oregon for the foreseeable future.
  • The cafe has had four different email providers since opening, including trying to be our own. I know some of you had problems getting your account verification emails, and I apologize. That should, knock on wood, be solved now.
  • There have been 26 discussions started, with 155 replies. That’s ~8 posts a day, folks. Not shabby for a brand-new site.
  • People have been leveling up their tadpoles by using the site at an amazing rate. Outside of T-E-C land, there are now two level four tadpoles (ConfusedSoup and SystemK), and six level three tadpoles. There are only seven levels total folks, and I had expected them to last a while. Y’all are growing up so fast we’re going to have to come up with more levels. Tadpoles in space?

Our second Zoom Meetup is this Saturday at 1 p.m. Pacific, 4 p.m. Eastern, Sunday morning in New Zealand, and Saturday night in Europe.  Feel free to come be socially awkward with us. It’s kind of a bonding experience.  Maybe we’ll figure out when we’re going to play D&D. 😀

Seriously, though, a huge thanks to all of you for making this place what its becoming.  We literally couldn’t do it without you.
