T-E-C Elections

So the picture is just a joke, based on Sharon’s comment about me hiring pollsters.

That said, it is election time here in T-E-C. Our years traditionally match the school year. (Since we aren’t in school, these days our years start more around Labor Day.) There actually isn’t one exact day we all vote, since thankfully we don’t usually switch that much in one day. Polls are open until everyone has had a chance to vote.

There was no big political ulterior motive in coming out at work, although that sounds really impressive, and I should have thought of that.

Really, my position in the election is simple – I’ve been the one out the most in the past year, since Janet seems to have retired as system “host” (gads I hate that term), it just makes sense for me to have a council seat.

It’s been an interesting year for me. It used to be that I was mainly only out at work (or studying), and otherwise Janet was the one driving. That isn’t the case anymore. We can go weeks without seeing much of Janet.

I’ve been out so much I’ve floated the idea of a legal name change, but so far that’s been shot down by the council. Admittedly, it would be a pain to officially change our middle name from Elaine to Saoirse. (There’s never been an Elaine in the system, oddly enough.) A common point made is that no one will be able to spell or pronounce my name correctly, so we shouldn’t switch over to using it. I get it. At the same time, I dislike having to legally be Janet. Sharon suggested we just switch to using our current middle name, since its neutral and doesn’t belong to anyone. I just don’t feel like an Elaine. But then again, I don’t feel like a Janet either.

The cat just came and lay down on/in front of the keyboard, making it hard to type and requiring much backspacing, as she wants to make a blog entry too. I’m taking this as a sign its time to go back to bed. Have a good one!
